Autorka prezentuje badania przeprowadzone na przełomie lat 80. i 90. XX wieku wpisujące się w studia nad instytucjonalną opieką nad dziećmi w sytuacji silnej dysfunkcji rodziny. Mimo upływu lat rzetelne badania sformalizowanego obszaru pracy opiekuńczej nadal są bardzo nieliczne. System opieki nad dziećmi w Polsce po przełomie ustrojowym został zasadniczo zreformowany. Takich domów dziecka, w których ponad 40 lat temu były przeprowadzane badania, już nie ma. Czy uzyskane wtedy wyniki, opisujące style wychowania i ich związek z ważnymi mechanizmami osobowościowymi młodych ludzi, uzasadniały kierunek reformy? Monografia ma wymiar historyczny, ale obraz interakcji wychowawczych oraz potrzeba monitorowania funkcjonowania instytucji pieczy zastępczej niezmiennie pozostają ważnym przedmiotem badania. Despite the passage of time, reliable studies on formalised area of care are still few and far between. The childcare system in Poland was substantially reformed after the democratic transition. The orphanages where the research was conducted over 40 years ago do not exist. Did the results obtained then, which describe the styles of upbringing and their connection with the important personality mechanisms of young people, justify the direction of the reform? The monograph has a historical dimension, yet the image of the pedagogical interactions and the need to monitor the functioning of the foster care institutions invariably remain an important subject of research.
