Monografia podejmuje problematykę eksplikacji znaczeń jednostek czasownikowych reprezentowanych przez "stracić" oraz wyrażeń pokrewnych semantycznie, m.in. "zmarnować", "przepuścić", "roztrwonić". Autorka bada także właściwości związanego z nimi czasownika "mieć" oraz opisuje operacje, którym te jednostki podlegają. Analiza opiera się na teorii jednostek języka Andrzeja Bogusławskiego oraz na założeniu istnienia pojęć niedefiniowalnych (tak jak je ujmuje Anna Wierzbicka) wchodzących w skład pojęć złożonych. ****** On the Notion of Loss. The Semantic Analysis of Selected Verb Units The monograph discusses the problem of explicating the meanings of verb units represented by 'stracić' ('lose') and semantically related expressions, including 'zmarnować' ('waste'), 'przepuścić', 'roztrwonić' ('squander'). The author also examines the properties of the related verb 'mieć' ('have') and describes the operations to which these units are subjected. The analysis is based on Andrzej Boguslawski’s theory of language units and on the assumption of the existence of undefined concepts (as Anna Wierzbicka puts it) which are the component of complex concepts.
